Arrival in the Venice of the East
My journey to Udaipur began with a scenic drive through the Aravalli Hills. As soon as I entered the city, the calm waters of Lake Pichola welcomed me. The air was filled with the scent of marigolds and the distant sound of temple bells — a true cultural embrace.
Staying in a Haveli
I stayed at a restored haveli by the lake. Its jharokhas (ornate windows) offered stunning views of the City Palace. Mornings started with masala chai on the terrace, watching boats drift by — slow, serene, timeless.
Exploring the City
Wandering through the old city, I stumbled upon colorful bazaars, rooftop cafes, and narrow lanes adorned with murals. The highlight was visiting the City Palace, where every corner told a royal tale with marble courtyards, intricate carvings, and shimmering mirror work.
The Magic of the Sunset
But what truly stole my heart were the sunsets. I hiked up to Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace, and as the sun dipped behind the hills, the lakes below turned gold. The view was ethereal — like time stood still just for that moment.
Reflections
Udaipur isn’t just a place — it’s a feeling. It whispers stories of the past while bathing in golden light. If you're seeking peace, culture, and charm — this is your sign to pack your bags.
